Type II collagen and its function for joint health 

Type II collagen is the major protein in cartilage tissue, providing tensile strength and toughness to the tissue. Many joint disorders proceed through inflammatory pathways leading to cartilage degradation. This is majorly caused due to an immune response against endogenous type II collagen which is causing an inflammatory response. Type II collagen in its tertiary intact, undenatured form, at low dosing regime, acts as a modulator of the inflammatory immune response. 

Immune modulation mechanism of action  

Nautient-II works at very low dose (40 mg/day) through a mechanism called oral tolerance which provides a diminished immune response due to the build-up of receptor tolerance caused by low dose antigen recognition. Oral tolerance is effectuated by the following actions in the body: 

  1. Interaction of the orally ingested type II collagen with Peyer’s patches in the gut, potentiates detection by the immune system. 
  2. Low dose interaction initiates a continuous immune response against endogenous type II collagen thereby lowering the immunological action. 
  3. Providing immunological tolerance, the type II collagen leads to the reduction of collagen degradation in the joints, supporting overall joint health and anti-inflammation.
